The Mouxti.com Team would like to express our deepest sympathy to all those affected by the shocking and tragic events of last Monday 11/07/2011 at Mari, especially to the families and friends of the victims. It is heart-breaking to think that it takes an event of this magnitude to help us realise the true meaning of the word 'hero'...
In these difficult and uncertain times, energy consumption is the one thing we can all do to prevent a total blackout and it doesn't take much effort. We're a digital company, remember? If we can do it, you certainly can too! Four simple things we did:
- We changed our dress code.In order to cope with the lack of air condition, our team can now wear whatever they want (within reason, of course!)
- We changed our policy regarding internal meetings. All our internal meetings are postponed until the first power cut of the day. During the very first power cut, each department was proactive in determining which tasks could be performed without electricity. All team members now know where they need to be as soon as the system goes down. We have already found out that brainstorming sessions are a lot more productive when there are no other distractions!
- We use our laptops. If you've been treating your laptop well, you should have enough battery life to see you through the power cut. If not, change your battery or think about upgrading your device (some of ours have a battery life of about 4½ hours!).
- We catch up with other tasks. Every desk in every office has things that need to be caught up with. Filing is usually the big one!
